UGNI BLANC,for roundness

This variety gives a pale yellow wine, rather fine with hints of banana. When blended, winemakers use this grape for its high acidity to bring a touch of freshness to their wine.

In the warmer parts of the region such as Aquitaine, it gives very smooth and aromatic wines and when in mouth full bodies with a vibrant finish.

Production area

This vine requires certain soils but will prefer calcaire and can deal with a windy climate.

Description

Ugni blanc produces very large juicy grapes, perfectly round, of a medium size and a golden yellow colour. In the sunnier parts of the region, the grapes can sometimes even become a brass colour.

Ugni blanc or also known as trebbiano bianco, originaly comes from Tuscany in Italy. It only appeared in France for the firsst time in the middle ages. This variety is only used for wine making and is rarely used for eating.
