This variety gives a pale yellow wine, rather fine with hints of banana. When blended, winemakers use this grape for its high acidity to bring a touch of freshness to their wine.

In the warmer parts of the region such as Aquitaine, it gives very smooth and aromatic wines and when in mouth full bodies with a vibrant finish.

Production area

This vine requires certain soils but will prefer calcaire and can deal with a windy climate.

Description

Ugni blanc produces very large juicy grapes, perfectly round, of a medium size and a golden yellow colour. In the sunnier parts of the region, the grapes can sometimes even become a brass colour.
